The Yarra Riverkeeper Association's mission is for a river that is Healthy, Protected and Loved and we believe that everyone has a contribution to make to improve the river. By volunteering with us you will learn about the threat to the river from litter and you will be actively contributing to improving the health of the river.
Regardless of the experience you choose, we can guarantee your time outdoors help you feel more connected to nature! Your group will not only experience the river environment but will learn about how to protect and care for it as a living natural entity.
Morning Sessions run from 10.00 am – 12.00 pm
OR Afternoon Session from 1.00 pm - 3.00 pm
At a suitable point during the experience, the YRKA leader will provide a short talk on the Yarra, Birrarung and answer any questions.
Walking litter cleanups meet in the city by the rowing sheds near Princes Bridge. Canoe cleanups can start from the same location or from South Yarra, Hawthorn or Templestowe.
Group size starts at 10. Groups larger than 50 will require a customised quote.
No prior experience is required. Qualified instructors will lead the canoe activity and all safety equipment provided.
Yes! Corporate volunteering provides a fun, friendly environment for your team to get to know each other. Most of the tasks will require working together, yet still provide time to chat.
Please wear outdoor clothing and comfortable, closed toe shoes. Wear a hat and sunscreen. Canoeists may get wet. – it can get very warm in summer and chilly in winter! We encourage all volunteers to bring their own water bottle.
We provide all the necessary equipment for river and land experiences.
