This is a supported self discovery experience
You'll create your own adventure with Birrarung (Yarra River) - with coaching at the start and support available whenever you want it.
We start by setting you up for success. You'll learn paddling skills and plan your route together. Then when you're ready you're free to explore at your own pace, with phone support ready for any questions. Every paddler, from first-timers to weekend enthusiasts, will find something special on the river.
As you make your way up the Birrarung, you'll spot curious lifeforms we share Melbourne with. The river transitions from urban spaces to natural corridors, showing how our city evolved alongside this vital water source. Many people find that focusing on paddling helps them tune into nature - spotting birds, appreciating trees, and watching light dance on the water.
At the end of your journey, we'll meet you and help coordinate your return home. There is access to public transport and taxis the whole way along this section of the river.
This is about giving you space to experience the river
your way, with reliable backup always on hand. The Birrarung offers
both peaceful moments and exciting exploration - it's ready for you to
discover.
