Canoe Melbourne

TRIP TIME: 2.5 hrs return

AGES: Suitable for ages 12 and up; no experience necessary. Note: People between 4- 12 years are welcome to share a canoe with two paying passengers.

START: Meet at Alexander Gardens adjacent to rowing sheds.

CANOE: Our canoes are a 5-meter Canadian style canoe, lovingly crafted by Bob Doak, an Australian Olympic paddler.

JOURNEY SUMMARY
Being on the water in the heart of the city provides a unique and memorable connection to Melbourne.  The mighty Birrarung (Yarra) is an excellent location to experience paddling for the first time, or for experienced paddlers to enjoy a stunning paddle through Melbourne’s scenic waterway and city.

Meet at the rowing sheds in Alexander Gardens.   Together we will establish an experience agreement ensuring we all work to exceed both safety and experience expectations.  Off we paddle on an exploration of the Birrarung and Melbourne sights.

Canoeing past the Crown Casino and alongside stylish Southbank, we continue back past Flinder’s Street Railway Station and beneath historic Princes Bridge before arriving back at the Alexandra Gardens. The perfect launching spot for a stroll through the gardens, with access to Melbourne’s Botanic Gardens, cultural and sporting precincts.

WHAT TO BRING
A sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle and a camera.  Everyday clothes are suitable.
